K2RSK (Peter)
recently received a certificate from ARRL, for working all
three hundred and forty countries (DXCC) (See picture).
Peter began his amateur radio career as a pre-teen under the
tutelage of a longtime friend. All
contacts were made working CW, RTTY (confirmed in CW) or SSB
running about one hundred fifty watts from his basement
shack. Peter said,
that at times it was difficult competing with operators who
were running hi-power amplifiers. His shack
(most importantly) and house, have an emergency back-up
generator, allowing Peter to operate even when commercial
power is not available.
Last month K2RSK received his sixty-five years
in Amateur Radio award at the QCWA Chapter 65 luncheon. It’s hard
to believe that being a family man and the owner of nine
restaurant, Peter still had time for his amateur radio
hobby. Congratulations
to K2RSK from the members of QCWA Chapter 65.
